Indoor-Outdoor Master Bedroom Retreat

Project Location: San Francisco, CA

What would you do if your bedroom had a mishmash of doors and windows on just about every wall? The homeowners of this master bedroom had exactly such a dilemma. They struggled with finding the right furniture and space plan for a dark room that had 5 doors. We stepped in by proposing a design that turned their existing eyesores into dramatic features, including: a reclaimed barn door that unified their entry and closet openings, a fold-open window wall that connected the room to a balcony deck, and a wall mural that camouflaged the doors to their bathroom and second closet. We also placed their bed unconventionally in the middle of the room and added a custom leather headboard with hidden storage behind. The result was a fun and eclectic space inspired by being on a treetop.

This project first aired in 2012 on HGTV’s Room Crashers Episode 212.
